Veteran Nollywood actor, Kanayo O. Kanayo, aka KOK, has warned Nigerian youths that there is no connection between human sacrifices and wealth.

In a recent virtual Town Hall Meeting hosted by an online news platform, veteran Nollywood actor Kanayo O. Kanayo, popularly known as KOK, addressed the pervasive myths surrounding wealth acquisition in Nigeria. Renowned for his roles as a ritualist in movies, KOK dismantled the connection between human sacrifices and prosperity, emphasizing the stark contrast between cinematic portrayals and real-life dynamics.During the online gathering themed "Rituals, Riches, and Realities: The Myths of Money-Making and the Dignity of Labour," Kanayo urged Nigerian youths to dismiss the fallacious narratives propagated in movies. Drawing from his extensive experience in the film industry, where he often played characters associated with ritualistic practices, the thespian emphasized that on-screen depictions do not mirror the authentic path to success."These people (youths) have upped their ante, and it is not about what they watch (movies)," Kanayo asserted.

He debunked the notion that individuals living in modest conditions would instruct others to engage in heinous acts to amass wealth. "There is no truth to the fact that a man living in a thatched house will ask you to kill your girlfriend and sleep with her to make money," he emphasized, dismantling a stereotype perpetuated by certain movie plotlines.Addressing the evolution of fraudulent practices, Kanayo highlighted the shift from traditional scams, like letter-writing, to contemporary schemes. He touched on the "Yahoo Promax" phenomenon, which involves gruesome rituals, such as killing someone and consuming body parts with the belief that it leads to financial prosperity. Dismissing such practices, Kanayo emphasized the absence of any genuine connection between ritualistic acts and legitimate wealth creation, asserting that "money is made through hard work."Reflecting on his own journey to success, Kanayo shared a personal anecdote of how he achieved financial milestones without resorting to sacrificial rituals.

"I laid the foundation of my house in 2015, and in 2016, Globacom, owned by Mike Adenuga, signed me as one of those to be a part of a nationwide campaign it was holding," he disclosed.

The actor described the financial windfall from this collaboration, involving performances in multiple cities, as a key factor in building his mansion.

"The money was huge. It involved performances in many cities, but sometimes they count 10 cities and pay us upfront, even before we start visiting those cities," Kanayo explained.

This revelation aimed to emphasize that legitimate opportunities and hard work, rather than occult practices, paved the way for his success.Despite the allure of luxury items like a 2015 Range Rover, Kanayo made a conscious decision to prioritize long-term investments over immediate gratification. "The sacrifice I made was that I left the Range Rover and completed my house," he revealed. This decision, he believes, was a testament to the importance of prudent choices and delayed gratification in achieving financial goals.Kanayo's narrative serves as a powerful counter-narrative to the prevalent myths surrounding wealth creation, urging the younger generation to focus on diligence and ethical means of achieving success.

His story underscores the significance of perseverance, seizing legitimate opportunities, and making informed decisions in the pursuit of prosperity. As the virtual Town Hall Meeting concluded, Kanayo O. Kanayo left a resounding message for Nigerian youths: "Money is made through hard work." This rallying cry seeks to inspire a paradigm shift away from fantastical and harmful beliefs, encouraging a mindset centered on industry, innovation, and the dignity of labor. Kanayo's words stand as a beacon of wisdom, guiding the next generation toward a path of genuine success untainted by the shadows of fictional narratives.
