A series of brazen thefts has plagued the Apple Store in Burlingame, California, with the latest incident occurring on October 24, 2023, where five suspects stole an estimated $100,000 worth of Apple products. What's particularly striking is the frequency of such thefts over the past 14 years, with at least five similar robberies documented.
Notable instances include an August 2019 theft by seven individuals, a series of thefts in September 2019, and a 2018 incident with an undisclosed number of thieves.
Despite these recurrent incidents, Apple instructs its employees and security personnel not to intervene during thefts, and the company has not implemented significant changes to its in-store security measures in response to these ongoing crimes. These thefts have also been reported in various other Bay Area Apple Stores.
