In a recent viral video, a Nigerian pastor created an unusual moment during a church service by instructing his members to kiss their partners to receive divine favor. The video depicts churchgoers responding passionately, embracing and sharing kisses with great enthusiasm within the church walls.
However, this peculiar display has sparked controversy and criticism. One observer expressed concern, stating, "This isn't right! Nigerians are being misled. This isn't in line with Christian beliefs."
In a separate, unrelated incident, tragedy struck the Pentecostal community when Pastor Greg Sagie, a clergyman in his 60s, was fatally attacked in his own home by a suspected member of his church. The incident occurred in Sapele, Delta State, just last month.
During the attack, Pastor Sagie was resting in his bedroom at the pipeline area of MTN Road around noon. The assailant believed to be a member of the church, forcibly entered his residence and even threatened Pastor Sagie's two young children, aged eight and 11, who were in the living room at the time. The frightened children managed to escape and sought help, raising an alarm about the shocking and tragic event.
