Governor Siminalayi Fubara claimed that he was the target of an assassination attempt by police officers while heading to inspect the bombed Rivers State House of Assembly complex. He expressed his disappointment in the attempt by some individuals to forcefully take control of the assembly.
Fubara also condemned the destruction of parts of the assembly complex, which was funded by taxpayers.
He denied any involvement in plotting the attack to prevent his impeachment, emphasizing his commitment to peaceful resolution.
Fubara stated that even his security was compromised, with the Deputy Commissioner of Police allegedly shooting at him directly during the incident.
