Evil Nigerian Politics in Rivers State

On Sunday night, an explosion shook the Rivers State House of Assembly complex, coinciding with reported attempts by certain lawmakers to impeach Governor Siminalayi Fubara. Suspected arsonists reportedly threw an explosive into the complex at around 9:25 pm, igniting a fire. While the state police command's spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, could not be reached, a senior police officer confirmed the incident, suggesting political motivations behind the act.

The fire was eventually extinguished by firefighters who arrived promptly. Notably, the incident resulted in the destruction of some properties within the chamber. It was revealed that some legislators in the state had finalized plans to impeach the House leader, Eddison Ehie, as a precursor to Governor Fubara's removal, as Ehie had been obstructing these efforts. The Assembly complex was heavily guarded by the police and other security personnel, with approximately 17 security trucks and an Armoured Personnel Carrier stationed at the premises.
